Lyrics

They stand along the edge in life just wanting to be part,
of the world they see around them, of a world that has no heart.
They can’t get past the feeling, that something might be there
But it’s no use I don’t fit in and no one seems to care.

I saw her standing in the back, listening to the word
her face expressing hopelessness, just wanting to be heard.
No one turned to comfort her as the tears rolled down her face,
I wondered what I might have done as she turned and walked away.

It seemed my friend was looking down the cliff with some intent.
and I know that he’d been struggling and said things he hadn’t meant.
I shrugged it off and went my way, no worries to be found.
Until the day the echo rang, the day he hit the ground.

Let Jesus be your guide today where someone is in need.
Don’t blindly pass them by today, make sure their souls are freed.
It just takes one kind word today to help them on the road.
back toward the light that waits for them, of hope and love and home.

I see their faces in the midst of death that holds their hand,
with no hope for eternity, their future in my hands.
Can I tell my friends of You, my Lord if I don’ try;
Their death will stand as a tribute to my useless faith in Thy.

Now I see Jesus’ face in every man that walks along the road,
the ones who ask for handouts, all those that have no home.
They stand along the edge in life, just barely holding on,
The road leaves either way for them, please let your presence known.

Let Jesus be your guide today where someone is in need.
Don’t blindly pass them by today, make sure their souls are freed.
It just takes one kind word today to help them on the road.
back towards the light that waits for them, of hope and love and home.

Let Jesus be your guide today, let Jesus be your guide.
It just takes one kind word today, remember, Jesus died.
Let Jesus be your guide today, where someone is in need
“What e'er you do for the least of these, my brothers you do for me.”
